Hi Gary, I definitely feel quite attached to my machinery and care for it well. Names....not yet but I think you have started somethiing:).
Does "START, you $€>#%+ thing" count.?
Yep, they get some rather exotic names when they won't start
i used to name my most used tools,
only thing i have left from my days as a pro is my soft malet for slab's (timmy) and a post rammer AKA ''THE BOSS'',
all the other kit i have now re purchased over the years although it has a value to me its not the same as when the kit i had was responsible for my living and ability to pay the bills so none of this has any pet names, not yet anyway
We have Tina the Tipper and Fanny the Forklift.
We call spades and forks "knives and forks"
Not all necessarily pet names but here are a few!
King Kong - Etesia Pro 51K
Matilda the mulcher - Etesia ME53B
Little Etesia - Pro46
Monster mower - Hayter Condor - now sold
The red one - Mountfield
The little green one - Hayter 41 spirit
Supermower - our new Hayter 41 Pro
My brother calls tools weard names
Sledgehammer called "betsy"
A saw called "haw morris"
A crowbar called "the persuader"
No rhyme or reason at all, he is a rather strange man
One of my lawn mowers is named miss Jocelyn. We had a client who we installed artificial turf for and afterwards she gave us her old mower as she would no longer need it. Her name was Jocelyn so the mower is now named miss Jocelyn
