Sam, we used husqvarna 525 he 3 for the last 15 years ( used to be 327 he 3 before they changed the model number) these are a semi long reach. However the build quality seems poorer than it used to be, so we have swapped to Echo HCAS 236ES, which are around £100 cheaper,, semi long reach again. Have to say very pleased with reliability and cutting performance and particularly the blades stay sharper for longer than the Husqvarna, this is in a commercial environment being used to chew through stuff which should be cut with loppers!
We'll never go back to a standard length hedgecutter, you would perhaps think being semi long that they would be cumbersome but not so, we cut a lot of small topiary with them without issue. Also with being longer we can reach further without steps or having to get the long reach out, so we save a lot of time.
I would highly recommend the Echo, we certainly will buy more. Hope that helps.
