James, the cold months are not ideal for treating weeds - most weeds stop growing at that time of year so it's really a bit of a waste of time!
I have had a berthoud 2000 for maybe 2 years now and it's still working as it should. A 16litre tank is good as it's not as heavy when full as a 20l one, and I wouldn't want more than the 16 litres on my back anyway. Buy a dozen or so nozzles as they do block up over time and it's cheap to just change them.
You'll need a couple of 250ml measuring cups, gloves, ideally some disposable overalls and mask (I find the mask too uncomfy to wear personally).
Thanks Dan
Sorry for the confusion i should have worded it better, I'm basically telling my customers i can't currently spray as i don't get my tickets till November, so will be spraying next year. :)
Thanks for the info, the berthoud does look good but so priey lol! about £152 delivered on ebay then i need to add extra for postage to the highlands. BUT.. Needs must i guess and I'm a bit of a sucker for buying top quality kit, as they saying goes... buy cheap buy twice :)
Hi James
We use a Cooper pegler CP3 20l capacity bit heavy but on some sites there is no water access so extra capacity needed.Price about £130 but needed a sprayhead windshield at about £33.The rest as Dan said but I use pair of wellies to save walking glysopnate in surrounding areas.
I also use the Berthoud 2000. Great bit of kit and ive had it 5 years, parts are easy to get hold of. The only problem I had was when I didnt dry it out over winter and the frost got in, but it only cracked the handle (£12). Use it most days if weather allows and you cant tell you have it on - worth the investment!
Is £150 the going price? What price are spare nozzles?
I use DEF-05 nozzles from http://www.spraytips.co.uk/_-Deflector-_/product/?pid=7696
£1 each.
I use the Cooper Pegler Classic CP3, inherited it from my old man. Has never let me down, I think its must be 20 years old too!

I also use the Cooper Pegler CP3 20ltr. I have also used the Berthoud and found it not as well balanced as the Cooper Pegler. The CP3 I use is very narrow so is closed to your back, where as I found the berthoud tended to pull me back more even though it's capacity was less at 16ltr, because of the thickness of the tank.
I bought my CP3 of www.agratech.co.uk.
Hi
Interesting, The other unit someone recommended to me was a CP 2000 15, bit cheaper too.
