Whats the colour of your MOT type 1

Bit strange I know but bear with me.I had a 10 tonne load of type 1 delivered today to go under the patio i am lying and it was white, these seemed odd to me as in the past I have only had the usual pink and occasionally gray. So this made me think does type 1 change colour depending what part of the country you are in? Or is it just a supplier thing?

  • our hardcore type 1 mot is grey

our crush and run is purple / and dust .

in wales (north) its buff / beige !! my dad has - nice !
  • Type 1 is simply the classification of your hardcore meaning that it has to conform to a certain Ministry of Transport standard. That standard can be met by different aggregates in different parts of the country.

  • I normally get limestone for mot from my supplier but sometimes I get the brown stone, cant remember what it is. Also if I get 20 ton loads direct I can get slate for mot which does compact brilliantly.

But as stated already by Dave it is just a standard. SO the stone cant be bigger than a certain size and there must be a certain dust content. It is the dust that gives it the stabitilty locks everything together.
  • In Cornwall it is granite based generally a sparkly grey. doesnt seem to compact very well tho, it sometimes comes out brown but it is still granite based.
  • I've started using recycled MOT - so there's a bit of everything in there.
  • ooooo i was just looking at mine on my drive ............... can u get it level / wacker ??????

can u get it cheap for 1 tonne ? or in bag?

  • You use it in exactly same way, its got a bit more sandy stuff in it so you need less sand wacked over the top. It is cheaper about £4 per tonne for me but its loose loads which is easier if you've got 10t to move! Can't get it in T bags from where I buy it.
