    56 Ranger double cab

750kg indespension trailer with mesh sides
  • full services at mitsubishi when i bought it at 100,000 miles last march/april.
did 20,000 in 9 months (inc towing bit) , just had 2nd service. only done 2000 odd last 2/3 months.

no problems whatsoever, read a good review on makes/cars etc somewhere on net and it had good/best reliability ie less work needed than most within it years.

fuel obviously thirsty but makes life/travelling less fatigue. has rear diff lock and 4 settings on 4x4 lever.

dad has a l200 animal 'y' reg double cab . 2.5 diesel in n.wales , it has bad bad turning circle and short leg room in back ! good solid truck , but not for motorway.... fuel the same ish.

Have you had any bother with it, I have always been put of Mitsubishi by the lack of leg room in the L200 (only mitsbishi Ive driven), is this a problem in the shogun.

  • I notice alot of you own trailers. Dont you find it more hassle owning a trailer. What i mean is, i used to work for a gardening co before i went self employed and they used to use trailers and we had to unload them using forks etc. Very annoying when they were full of grass!!! So when i went self employed i insisted on buying a tipper! (to save time on unloading)
Isnt it more hassle having trailers for the above reason? Also dont you have to pay to store them in secure lock ups?
    thanks
  • they are practical,

    but load is to high.

trailer has full ramp/ and cages so just carry up load.

i can take it of when not required. less fuel and hassle.

hitch lock and wheel clamp are a pain everyday........... and keeping out of site !

they dont depreciate hardly though , i have 5 in total (like your truck/tipper horses for courses)

good for tipping gravel/ soil etc. id like a tipper ifor but £3k is too much for 8x5 bed.

  • Currenbtly I have a swb transit (part-way through being racked up) and tow a small indespension 6x4 trailer, no mesh sides (yet).

Ideally I'd have an 8x5 trailer, maybe a paxton, and will get the van mapped to 100bhp (currently 75) as soon as I have £250 to spare.

The van's great though, glad I got it over the connect.

I have two Transit 280's, one SWB with medium roof and one MWB also with medium roof. This is complimented with a Blueline mesh trailer (unbraked, rated at 750kg).

One of the vans is a 75hp 2 litre diesel and is totally gutless, the other is a 110hp 2.2 litre diesel and is a lovely drive, is also better on fuel. The 75hp van is an 03 plate, the 110hp is 08.
  • 04 SWB Med roof Transit 260 with uprated suspension.
05 SWB low roof transit 260
02 Combo 1.7 great runabout good 40mpg around town.
  • Lm 166 i have caged is higher . although ok with ramp.

gd 85 i have now is lower (shame my new gd105 / brand new sides £1800cheap) was stolen ,non insured, although
ive lost count how many times ive filled 16x6.6ft sided lm !! never big enough.

the big one has saved many hrs time and fuel /trips/ mileage too.......... £2,200 bargain on e-bay 3 yrs ago?

The trouble with the tipping trailer is the center of gravity is very high.
Often I drive with mine off road with full loads, the Lm is ok, the GD is even better but the tippers are dangerous. When shifting gravel or bark, it is very rare when it would be convient to tip , more often it needs shoveling into barrows.
Agree with robin re Ifors holding value. I started with a P6E, genuine sale one owner with initial sale recipt, handbook etc paid £600. 3 years of regular hard use and sold it on for £800 before buying new my curernt LM85.
