hi as a ulsterman we prefer a dipped soda farl ith bacon and cheese
What is a "dipped soda firl"...? are we missing something vitally important down here in the Sarf ?
I mean, we could get quite cultural with this discussion :D

Plain bread, toasted and lurpak butter, braw
Soda's are glorious. by far my favourite part of an ulster fry. Pretty heavy going in a buttie format and logistically hard to eat as its fried and hot.
With Rowley here. Nice white bread, proper butter (lots of it, it should drip when you eat it), and just crispy but not burnt. I've not added mustard before, as if the bacon's good enough it shouldn't need anything at all. Brown sauce is great with a cheap sausage or flavourless bacon, but let's be honest here; if it needs a vinegary brown sauce (or a sugary tomato ketchup) to "imporove" the flavour, then the poor pig wasn't giving his best. What mustard is best? I love a Moutarde de Maille with a frankfurter.....
I have to say I've never found decent bacon at any caff or van, so I'd rather have a lie-in, cook it myself with decent ingredients, and eat it as I drive.
That, of course, begs another thread; do you buy expensive, poor-quality coffee from a petrol station "Costa" machine, or make a decent Nespresso version for a fraction of the price at home, and take it in a flask? :-)
Off to make dinner. Tonight it's freebie scallops from my stepdaughter's work, with crispy black pudding and potatoes, on a bed of sauted cabbage, with a white wine and cream sauce. Yum!
Now I'm wondering if we need a new LJN Group:
"Foodie Landscapers" ;-)
I never knew there was so much "in" a bacon buttie decision until this morning
Now you are making me hungry... ;)
Susan - thick white bread, buttered and crispy bacon and brown sauce :)
Aye - thick white bread, loads of butter, crispy bacon and tomato ketchup
