What Holiday ?

Just been a reading a real insightful blog that reflects many of my business feelings and approaches and felt the main theme was well worth posting on LJN for your take:

"It’s winter; time for some time off, right?

Wrong.

Truly believe that our season is set up by what we landscapers do in the winter, more so than anything else."

That is so, so true. I've just used some of my downtime over the break to look at few business aspects, sort out some issues, review/revise our schedules etc.

I now have a list of about a dozen key things I need to get done so we are as ready as we can be to meet this years challenges.

Over the last couple of years, the new year has presented us with considerable "work" and challenges for all manner of reasons.

So, have you taken the opportunity to look at what you do, what you need to do and do you have a list to action?

  • Interesting points Gary. I used the winter break to have a serious think about marketing during slow months. With us dong soley commercial work, it dawned on me that its no use just advertising and pushing for work during spring and summer. New contract work can come in at any point in the year so it is important to make sure that potential customers have your details on file.

  • So true Gary. I have been spending "my time off" geting many things prepared and organised for the year ahead. So so much to do! Spent all day today going round looking at housing propertys for their annual groungds maintenance contract along with some domestic quotations. Never seem to have enough time whatever time of year! Most people think we just sit in front of the telly for a couple of months a year! yeah right!
