What are you doing to watch the England match ?

I've succumbed and allowed everyone to finish early tomorrow to allow them to watch the match - what are you doing ?? I want to as well, but stupidly have a meeting in the afternoon that I need to get out off/cut short. For what it costs, I more than make up in morale and the ability to call on 'favours' if we have a problem in the future. I just wish we could hold a tax deductable staff meeting at the local pub...

  • Same as, gonna start at half 7 and should be all wrapped up by 2pm. Just in time for a few pre-match beers!

Starting early and doing the jobs in a set order which I have worked out I should be home just in time. Thats the plan. Hope they play better this time.

Absolutely nothing different. Have not watched any of the World Cup.

I've no interest in football as I always got picked last at school.

Now the Tour de France thats a different matter......

I have a meeting with a potential news reporter for Landscape Juice at 10.00am then out to lunch with my lovely wife then back for a couple of hours work before watching the match.

I've worked late today so that I feel justified in stopping early.
  • Having my first afternoon off for months (haven't had a day off at all). Couple of maintenance jobs in the morning then done (though I may try to knock out some quotes while watching!).

Yes, I'm a Scot but no I don't subscibe to this "anyone but England" mentality. I'd support any british/irish team that qualifies for a major tournament and detest sour grapes (though if I never hear about 1966 again it'll be too soon!)
  • We are finishing at 2. As Gary said it helps with the morale and the guys that work for me are football mad, its all they have been talking about. Me not so much but still want to watch the game.

    Phil,

How are the French news channels handling the footie situation ?

I heard that the Team where not allowed back to their 4/5 Star hotel and were bused straight to the Airport to be flown home 'cattle' class. Their manager even refused to shake hands at the end.

Have to say, they got what they deserved....

I know it's a cop out but I watch UK television.

I don't think the French are happy with their team or the situation though - I think rugby will become even stronger for a while.
  • Hi Phil, I hope your wife is not just lovely when you want to watch footie! I am on a consultancy visit in Bulgaria but have pre-warned the client. All is set up for them to watch me suffer. There is a whole Balkan/ Slavic thing going on over here so I think I might be in the minority!..Don't care though, surely we won't go the way of the woeful French!

  • I often finish working early afternoon on a Wednesday anyway and tomorrow will be one of those days,so will probably be enticed by the goings on!!!

They have to play better than the last game though eh??? I'm not bothered if they win or loose to be honest..it would be nice for a country that hasn't won the Trophy to win it this year...

Enjoy your well earned afternoon off :o)
  • My neighbours and French friends are treating the whole thing as a joke, 'Jean Paul Gaultier is being prepped as new manager' etc., - apparently a flood of dresses are being delivered to the team by ex fans. The government are taking it a tad too seriously though cutting off funding etc.

The irony is that the Stade Paris rugby team play in a pink strip with flowers, the french pundits are all saying this choice of strip is better suited to national football team.
