A domestic maintenance client came up to me today and asked me the following question, "we are coming up to our 10th year with you looking after our garden, firstly thank you and we would like to give you this bottle of Dom Pérignon to celebrate. I do have one question for you, for the last 10 years every week I have left a list of jobs I would like you to do in the garden and for the last 10 years you have not done the jobs on my list each week, why is this?" I said to my client that when I took the garden estate over I took it over in its entirety, therefore I know as and when jobs need to be done in the garden at their respective times and if I get side tracked doing jobs on your list then what actually needs to be done doesn't get finished. The reply I got was "oh fair enough, I will stop leaving the lists and will allow you to crack on as you see fit".Well it's only taken 10 years for her to get the hint, better late than never .....

    Personally I don't think she listens, I have told her in the past I don't do lists, the same way I told her I don't drink alcohol.... Hahaha

    Wouldn't life would be easy without customers! I love the Commercial contracts for this reason - you are (usually!) just left to get on with it! They pay their money, they get on with what they are paid to do and if you are not up to scratch, after 12 months, you are gone! Sharpens up the mind! 

    95% of my private customers are fine though and just let us get on with it.

    Had one like that once (still do, the lists are now infrequent) - she was lovely but the lists were "could you do any of the following" and were so vague and often irrelevant as to make me wonder if it was a joke, until she came out one day she was off work, to help and started dead-heading the fushias (large hedging types at that) then i realised she wasnt joking.............
