Weed killing in the rain do or dont?

On my way to a job I noticed a private company (i imagine emplyeed by the parish council) weedkilling the edges of a housing estate roads and paths with a weedkiller on a ride on.  Then 30 minutes later the council sent round a road sweeper before the weeds had chance to dry,

When I did my PA1 & PA6 it was mentioned not to apply weedkillers as per manufacturers instructions if rain was forecast or due or has this changed? I still follow this rule, as I would hate to be this contractor having to replace plants and turf on private gardens because of his careless actions.

  • Not sure why they would have to replace plants and turf?  Obviously the weed killer won't have had time to act on the plant roots so the sweeper would just clean them away for them to grow back again, a break in communications I expect.
