Not for the same price point.

  • Price is important but obviously if something is that much better then the extra ££

Remembering you can no longer ‘blanket’ spray hard surfaces using normal glyphosate, the OEM products from Monsanto are better, slightly safer to use, infiltrate the plant better and, importantly, are rain fast within a short time period means they are often the preferred product to use,

However, that comes at a price - often double that of cheaper non-patent versions unless you buy bulk.

  • I find  Chikara brilliant for keeping areas completely clear for 6 months +         As Gary says.... you're not supposed to "blanket spray" or cover everything but if you've a porous area... gravel....... or spraying the cracks/gaps between paving slabs .... it really is brilliant. Looks expensive but it isn't when you work out the very high dilution rates.    I've sometimes wondered about this "blanket spraying"............... you can apply it to gravel areas but not blockpaving for example........... I'd have thought it would all end up in the water system either way........... perhaps as it washes through more quicklyon non-porous surfaces, it reaches the water systems in a higher concentration?

I think the logic behind the ban is that for hard surfaces it normally drains directly to surface water gullies/ drains if it rains (and is not yet dry) and thus straight to the water courses but on gravel etc it has the chance to lock-in to organic matter below the surface.

Find that CDAs work effectively and still allow you to apply to hard surfaces, but there is an upfront cost for the gear but they are very frugal in product use and allow greater consistency.

If Glyphosate survives, I can see this method ( ie pre-controlled) becoming de facto ....

  • I never really blanket spray, just attack anything green that’s growing where it shouldn’t.

i find that rosate sometime takes a while to work as it needs quite a strong solution to kill the hardier weeds
