Waste Carriers Licence - Van Stopped

One of our vans was stopped the other day by a roadside random check by the environment agency.

Apparently there's a big push before Xmas on stopping fly tipping.

We're OK, have a Licence, so no probs.

Just a reminder to all to get one if you don't have already. It's really easy to register on the EA/Gov website - takes 5 mins.

Lower tier for self generated green waste (no charge), upper tier for all else (£154). Licences last 3 yrs.

You don't need to use an external agency to fast-track etc.

Fines are hefty (£1000+), and from my technician's feedback there we're several very unhappy looking people being processed, so not worth the risk really.

Good to see a proactive stance by the EA as according to many 'this never happens' ;) However, we sometimes see regular checks around the Guildford/Godalming link roads (particularly B3000)

We've just (yesterday) cleared 21 old pallets dumped in a business park over the weekend and this is now becoming a regular occurrence with the changes implemented in the last few months by local authorities.

Definitely, I'm all for Van stop check points, they are definitely proactive in this area, there is no logical reason why Gardeners do not have at the very least a "lower tier" waste carriers license....

A good thing but i wonder why the big push before Christmas , better for them to be more proactive during the summer .

Since the supermarkets started charging for carrier bags i have noticed fewer draped in bushes by the roadside but sadly i have noticed more rubbish dumped in rivers This morning i spotted a double mattress and a fully blown space hopper . It beggars belief .
