Hi Joey
in my experience it won't be the belt that's stretched. Above the pulley on the crank there is a coil spring (its integrated into the pulley cassette) and it's probably broken. It can look intact but a section from the end has possibly broken off which effects the expandable pulley mechanism allowing the belt to be thrown.
It is possible to replace the spring which I did from another damaged pulley but I don't know if a spring can be purchased separately.
It was these sort of faults which finally made me turn my back on Viking mowers. In my last year I used a Weibang, flipping heavy but just kept going without all the breakdowns.
Hi Gordon
Yep know that part well from my previous Viking. Think its time to ditch it cos it's a right job to get to it. Thank you for replying, appreciate it.
Gordon......Re the viking.....I changed the vario drive pulley and seems to have stopped the belt slipping off. Trouble is now after a few hrs use its lost its pace. Won't even move up hill. I've noticed that when I engage the drive the left hand side end cap of the roller is spinning like mad but the main long roller on the same side is hardly moving ! Do you think me changing the roller and it's drive gears inside will cure it or am I way off the mark....given your experience with these vikings? Cheers if you can help. Joey
