VIBRATION WHITE FINGER
People who work with vibratory tools are prone to Raynaud's and this appears to be permanent even when the work is stopped. This condition, known as Vibration Induced White Finger or Hand Arm Vibration Syndrome (HAVS) is recognised as an industrial disease eligible for compensation. To download our leaflet on Vibration White Finger click here.
Anyone with Raynaud's should be strongly encouraged to stop smoking as it causes narrowing of the blood vessels.

''quote from a lady on the website above'':
I wear thick gloves to go to the freezer, use Mycoal hand warmers when out in cold weather and wear lots of layers. Air conditioning, the freezer section of supermarkets, holding a cold glass or metal object, picking up coins or pins can all cause me problems. The pain if I knock the tip of a finger is excruciating. Over the years because of poor blood flow and so many ulcers, my finger tips have been permanently damaged. This causes problems even when my hands are warm.
robin - i was prescribed nifedipine but had side effects such as constipation/
losartan was prescribed daily but i dont like prescription drugs so tried : ginko biloba, and nettle tea & washing up in the sink !! ( as advised by the national best scottish chainsaw association?) also ginger/root seems to work.. and dont smoke (or drink ) :(
