Repeated dog mess on lawns and rudeness qualify for a final  "good bye"

Having to chase payment is an instant deal breaker for me .

The rest of it i just take in my stride , observe it and try not to overreact but rarely return , lifes too short and plenty of appreciative customers out there .

  • I remember a one off garden tidy up I got from Facebook, this lady got a price from a foreigner for £145, and he said it would take a day, I did it for the same price as I knew it was around four hours work. Took 3 months to get the money, turned out she was a single mum with increasing debts , I felt sorry for her and on the day she finally had the money I went to collect it, I was thinking I'll give her two kids £10 as I generally thought she was in a mess. That was until I found out her dad's farm worker told her I'd over charged her by £90.... and she'd just been on holiday. Took my money and blocked her number. Never done another job from Facebook.

    • Hi Oliver

My experience of facebook is that they want everything for nothing came of facebook a long time ago.

If you dont do it for buttons they leave negative feed back even if the job is perfect.

I went out to a multimillion pound house they wanted a full day for £60 they didnt get their money at £60 a day i walked away they left feedback that i was over charging at £200 for 2 of us for a day and waste away .

      FACEBOOK IS CRAP

      • I have had some decent work off of Facebook,

I see what their grammar is then that gives me half a clue as to reply, but lots of non quality work on FB wanting something for nothing

      • Hey Jim

Exactly agree with, she was quick enough to ask on faceache and so I guess she'd be quick enough to leave a bad comment (not that I deserved one).

Facebook works for some businesses I have a couple of friends doing rubbish clearances and house removals and Facebook gives them a high percentage of their business, so it's not totally bad.

Plus the gardens I work on these people don't use Facebook, word of mouth is best. Most new clients are friends of existing clients.

    "I'm Done"

  • Or the classic "Well the last gardener used to work for ......."

    and the answer;

    "Where is he?"

I casually dropped into conversation to a new customer “I did a job for your neighbour, once” and awaited his reply with anticipation.

The customer did not disappoint, he came back with “A lot of people did a job for my neighbour, once” then went on to say a guy who did his garden for many years went next door, once and was amongst those who said “Never again”.

Generally everyone else has the same experiences with the same nuisance customers.

    • Word of mouth customers is always great,

      reputation precedes

they know the prices and the quality
