Unseasonably warm December sees daffodils bursting into bloom three MONTHS early and trees beginning to blossom 

  • Bright yellow daffodils have bloomed early, while cherry blossom and hazel trees have sprung flowers
  • Despite recent hard frosts, the daffodils were spotted in full bloom before Christmas Day in public park
  • Flowers seen in Torquay are traditional harbingers of spring and usually flower between March and April
  • Rooks nesting and hazel trees flowering are also commonly regarded as the first signs of life after winter

While much of the country has shivered under icy fog, welcome signs of spring have been cropping up.

Bright yellow daffodils have bloomed three months early, while cherry blossom and hazel trees have sprung flowers in the depths of winter.  Despite recent hard frosts, the daffodils were spotted in full bloom before Christmas Day in a public park in the seaside town of Torquay, Devon. The flowers are traditional harbingers of spring and usually flower between March and April.

Rooks nesting, snowdrops sprouting and hazel trees flowering are also commonly regarded as the first signs of life after winter.

    • last year we seen this though graeme, this year been a bit crap as autumn and winter tidys done earlier than normal due to colder temp arriving  alot sooner than normal. 

      • I was cutting grass right up to last week in october here in the west which is as late as it gets frost only arrived here second week in november. Dont do many garden tidy ups though. Tried marketing them a few years running but gave up
        • were always the same last cut in october very rarely in november unless im scooping up leaves as part of an autumn tidy, first cut end march or start april ( fingers crossed no late snow fall )
