sadly i am expecting nothing from the govt. we will all end up paying for this free money bonanza in the long run, eg 25 percent v.a.t. rate maybe. personally i am just going to tighten my belt a bit
That's what I was thinking that we're not going to get anything, the belt tightening is going to get pretty tight.
Having just been announced, the rules, qualifications and processes are still being thrashed out and will be communicated out as soon as they can be.
As soon as it becomes clear, we will also endeavour to post links, articles etc on LJN
In the meantime, suggest you monitor the FSB website, .gov and local enterprise trust groups for further information.
Just seen the news, keeping fingers crossed we do get some help.
Right just off out now a full day of work ahead for now.
there's your answer Chris, they don't trust us not to be claiming and working at the same time
Imagine you phone a plumber because you have a water leak to be told they cannot come and fix it, because they are on benefits and have completely stopped working.
Policing people who are earning money whilst claiming benefits is a nightmare with the possibilty of money being reclaimed at a future time.
i think the govt has realised with hind sight that the 80 percent idea seemingly thought up on the spur of the moment is excessively generous and a massive disincentive to work even for jobs which could have been kept going, it's a further extension of the benefit culture which once in place very hard to wean people off and this time the self employed have been thrown under a bus like the northern irish over brexit
I think a bit of patience is needed here.
i think they will come up with something better. I think the problem is as much implementation as anything else!
Agree - trying to mobilise these schemes would be a challenge in even normal times ....
The Treasury & Sunak have been impressive with the limited time to discuss, agree and publish the economic support package announced over the last couple of days.
There will never be a solution that satisfies everybody - but it's a bl**dy good start that I'm sure will be refined and more added in as we have seen to date.
I'm sure there will a minority that will try to abuse any scheme, just as there are now with people not declaring cash while running side eBay or car boot sales similar to the black market during WWII.
Judge by the results, not the rumour or uninformed political points scoring.
Maybe some on LJN can help by operating some form of local working co-operatives ?
