Simples! :)
simple indeed . the option im going to take.
cheers nick ;-)
I bought 2 x 5 litre cans of two stroke oil 18 months ago, getting down it now but it was FAR cheaper than buying 'one shot' bottles.
I have 4 or 5 old 'one shot' bottles always full in the van, filled up every weekend to maintain a full stock. The local mower workshop gave me the old bottles for nothing, as they had a load in the bin one day after doing 'starter packs' for new machines and demonstrating to customers how to mix two stroke.
Similar story on chain saw chain oil - 1 litre bottle of chain oil is £6 locally or 5 litres for £18.... These savings soon add up!
Hi Paul,
We use the Stihl One Shot options and just buy them in in bulk boxes.
I haven't bought any for a few years now as my bulk stock is still very large, but great buying rates.
I do like them as very clean and easy to use. We have them stashed all over the place so wherever the site or job we have reserves, so we never run out.
Even over price, i just like the convenience.
hi peter/adam
convenience sometimes is worth the extra price. im trying to slash overheads presently and its surprising the amount saved from elementary items such as oils etc .
thanks for info guys
We find a further saving can be made on time - we mix up 40 ltrs of two stroke at a time in 2 big cans.
We pour equivalent to 4 shots straight from a 5ltr oil bottle into a nice big measure. Far less fiddly and gets 20lts done at once. Then top up our 5ltr fuel cans at the end of each day using a top notch filter.
Always worth giving the 20ltr mix a good shake before pouring though.
I do the same so I always have a stock of the stuff at home and top up when we get home, works well!
Whenever you use a lot of something bulk works out cheaper. I use the HP Ultra and carry the 5l can in the van, then use a wee measuring jug for the 100ml whenever I top up the 5l fuel cans. Seems the simplest way to me.
I've used 8-9l in the last season.
I buy Stihl 2 stroke oil in 20L drums, i cant remember how much they cost but its a huge saving over the one shot option.
hi chris. thats the road im going down now. iv located some good suppliers in england. do you buy local?
