Turf to shingle

Good afternoon all,

I have been asked by a customer to take up an area of lawn and lay shingle. This is not the kind of work I usually do but they are good customers so I think I'll give it a go. Will it be enough to remove the turf with a turf cutter, lay landscape fabric then cover with shingle? I'm just not sure how deep the shingle layer should be. The area won't get much traffic, it's a front garden and she just wants to put some pots on it.

Thanks Jim

  • Make it even easier. Spray off the grass. Cover with membrane then 2-3” of gravel.

keep the weeds under control (as they will appear) with spray

  • the finished level of the shingle wants to be 2 inch below the grass otherwise it will be near inpposable to edge and it will migrate onto the lawn it also wants to be 2 inch thick on top of membrane
