Tips n Tricks

Sorry, have searched but can't find that thread where people share all those little tips n tricks that save money, time or the back!

If someone can point me towards it, great, if not thought I'd get the ball rolling...

For decking and fencing jobs I prefer to use a tote bag for easy access to tools. Mine is cheap (JCB), large, open, loads of pockets,  does have a waterproof base but only really ideal for working indoors, or outdoors when its not raining.

Checked out tote bags with rain covers, they all start at circa £50 going up to £150 for the Veto Propac XL, very costly.

Chanced upon an online tip for covering the tote when it rains...a rucksack rainproof cover. Happened to have a 35litre one in the loft, and it fits a treat, drawstring pulls it snug around the tote, and folds away compactly too.

A landscapers all-weather tote bag, sorted!

  • A sack barrow is a good back saver for moving many different things. I have one with pneumatic tyres and it is a godsend, i've even moved a shed with it!!

....oh and never put a lightbulb in your back pocket!!!

  • Cut the end off a 500ml pop bottle and hey presto . . . . . . Instant tundish (or funnel for those that haven't started shaving yet).
