The Very Best of Felco

Hi All,

We at J S Country Tools are looking to expand our range of quality hand tools.

One of the area's we are looking at is pruning and cutting hand tools with the view of adding a range of Felco products to our site. So I wanted to ask the community what's your favorite Falco hand tools and why do you love them so much?

Regards

I have the Felco no7 secateurs with the rotating handle. Not everyone's cup of tea but I wouldn't be without them!
    • I had a pair of those Simon - didn't like them at all.  Prefer the standard Felco.

  • I'm probably an exception but not sure what all the fuss is about with Felco. Have owned a couple of pairs, and they good, sure...but most quality secateurs are good if they're kept sharp and oiled. The handle shapem seems pretty universal across brands. If anything I actually found the Felco's harder to fine tune because of the clumsy lock nut arrangement. Currently using Burgeon and Ball, and they are just as good as the Felco's. Annoyingly, even though they're manufactured less than a mile from my house, I had to pay £6 for postage and wait 10 days for a replacement blade.

Been through a few makes over the years but we all keep coming back to Felco's for build, value and availability.

Mainly use 2's, but I think one or two use 8's.

Have a couple of Felco hand saws, but never used their lopers (..mainly due to availability), so we use Bahco's for that, but would always look at them if available

    • Thanks for the feedback Guy's!

Gary we will be stocking the lopers and hand saws.

  • I use Felco No 2's. I never used to get the obsession with Felco's. I worked at a company where we were issued them and used to question what was so great about them, until I left, and tried others. Going back from Felco's to other makes was urgh!

  • I have a no8 and they have been through the mower once including the holster had to replace the holster and file the handles smooth again wrapped them insulation tape they have spent 8 weeks under conifer cuttings till I found them again I gave them a good service and oiled the leather still working ok

  • I have a pair of number 2's. i use them everyday. I also have a pair of old Baco and I really like them too. Its a tough choice for me but I think the build quality on the Felco wins for me.

I have the number 7's and have had them by my side for over 5 years. It's amazing how many times we've been out and about (not working) and I've reached for them after seeing a bramble or something similar. They are like a third hand to me. Errrr... That sounds weird!
  • Thanks for all the feedback guy's I will start with all the numbers quoted in this thread and add a few other interesting bits.
