It's always been the same Andrew. If they didn't work on the GVW there would be in a debate with every single vehicle over what the load weighs. Then everyone would have to be sent off to a weighbridge to see if they were over the limit or not.
They were out in force weren't they! Luckily I didn't get stopped, only seemed to be getting vehicles going into town.
There are mobile weighing devices; this is a blunt instrument to restrict access to Marlow. Just becasue it's been the same does not make it right or sensibile. Lots of Marlow people are peeved by it also - some chelsea tractors caught out.
Glen - lucky you!
Funnily enough they had 2 of the new disco's when I went past.
Not my area but I'll be looking out for those Max 3 tonne signs. Thanks for the heads up. It is all a part of the war on motors that make me glad I'm at the tail end of my working life. Next year our local council (Brum) is introducing a congestion charge for the entire area within the Middle Ring Rd. All this will achieve will be all drivers using the already busy ring road instead of the free flowing tunnels beneath the city centre. Further, the same council is flattening a busy flyover as it's an "eyesore". Never mind it helps keep 10's of thousands of cars a day moving!
Believe me, I'm more of an environmentalist than most, but these measures will simply make pollution worse......Sorry !! Rant over.
Just checked my van gross vehicle weight, 2700kg, swb traffic / vivaro.
Is there a 3m load length van with a gvw less than 3T? Our vivaro lwb is just over at 3010kg
Just what we need in Henley, more HGVs. Thanks Marlow!
