Hi All,
I was wondering has anybody come accross a product for soil improvement call Terracottem. The link below goes into the details of how it works, but I feel it could be a very interesting product for gardeners for the future, with a suitable client base. This Monday coming here in Belgium brings a waterhose ban.The situation is just the same as in the uk ,and from then on it wont be pretty for some of my clients. In the region around Brussels where I work its quiet heavy clay, so constant soil improvement and staying upto date with better techniques are becoming vital in keeeping Gardens tamed and under control. Terracottem works on the installation stage of planting ,seeding and turfing. Its a once off application with just a drop down spreader and rotavator needed to amelierate the soil to 20cm.Im not sure of the price in the UK? ,I have seen a figure of 266 sterling for 20kg(half that here in Belgium), but that was for the tree planting version. Application is 120g per sqm for domestic lawns but my supplier has told me 1 bag is suitable on heavy clay for 200sqm .If you have not worked that out , then this is in no way a cheap product, and would be off the agenda for many clients. However on small projects or for suitable customers it may prove a winner. A quick search on the web shows it is available in the uk, via green-tech.co.uk or via Inturf. I am certainly going to be giving it a go with new lawns in the future. Anyway if it can help out a fellow Gardener in the future, or its something you have seen before and are reminded of it again , all the better.
