Taking on employees

Thanks mainly to additional leads generated by a new website, my business is finally at the point I can consider expansion. Up until now it has just been me on my own or with occasional subbies and casuals. I am now thinking of taking someone on with a view to them heading up a second team eventually with a couple of labourers. What advice would you give to someone like me regarding the legalities of employing up to 4 or 5 guys? I'm thinking insurance, health and safety, contracts, holiday pay etc etc. is there a good website that can explain it all? I want to get all the details in place before I make the leap into being an employer!!Thanks
