I am quoting for a job and need to keep materials as tight as possible due to budget constraints. Can anyone advise the additional depth allowance for T1 per sq/m after wacker plating. It's a 3 inch depth of T1 but I will obviously need to increase quantity to allow for it being compacted. What quantity increase should I add?

  • If your using Type 1 below paving I've always believed 100mm thickness as the minimum usually required.

Increased amount required due to compaction will be effected by whether you are originally buying in loose by weight or in bulk bags by volume. I'd personally allow an extra 20% to be on the safe side and always factor a contingency in the amount of materials required into the quotation.

  • It's artificial lawn base. I would usually factor in contingency but need to be as tight as possible/near exact!! on this one
