woven membraine i am only using this as a example not recommendation https://www.plasticsbypost.co.uk/woven-ground-cover-fabric-1374-p.asp
I would only use the woven stuff too. Often called "heavy duty" Toolstation has a decent price of smaller amounts.
I buy mine from Wack wholesale but they are only going to be interested in large orders.
Regards to mulch, I find the best place to get mulch readily is Wickes, you get a 10% discount with the trade card.
+ 1 plastics by post , various grades , can vouch for it lasting years .
Bark chip , Usually find tree surgeons have bark in various stages of decay and can always deliver precise requirements cheaply and in bulk .some even specialize and can supply right grade for playgrounds and equestrian etc .
Hi all thanks for the replies
Plastic by post will be getting my business. Why have I never heard of them ? Great prices too
I get my woven weed suppressing membrane from LBS

they look a bit cheaper than Plastics by Post - provided you are buying several rolls (if you just want one piece 2m x 50m that would be expensive from LBS)
1m x 100m £54.60 vs £47.39 (2 rolls) - £38.76 (10 rolls)
5m x 100m £276.00 vs £211.16 (2 rolls) - £189.88 (10 rolls)
Can't see that the Plastic by Post product says that it has UV inhibitors - probably does, or is going to be completely covered by bark anyway, but might be worth checking.
The information, in that regard, on the LBS site is useless - which is common for their site. Beats me why they would prefer to waste their staff time answering questions like that (which they do in a very helpful and pleasant manner ...) rather than just putting the info on their website.
Personally I prefer metal U-Shaped hoops instead of the plastic barbed pegs. They will come back out if you need them to, whereas I have found the barbed ones are very hard to get out and after a couple of years if you try the top caps often break off.
