Strimming in the wet

Another silly question possibly ...?

Client of mine is intent on having her substantial edges strimmed tomorrow.  I avoided it last week, saying it was too wet, but she's insistent.  Surely I'll just end up ripping up clods and making more mess than I'm trying to clear, or at the very least spend yonks unclogging my strimmer?  What's best, a line or blade?  I use a Sthil petrol strimmer.

Thanks, as ever

I really enjoy strimming in the wet/rain. I love watching the clouds of mist from around the strimmer head :)
  • Yep me too. It is a realy measy job though! if its wet and warm i just waer shorts and wipe my legs down when im done. It smarts a bit if you get hit by a stone though! Its one of those jobs you can do any weather other than frost and snow!

  • Wow! Not a garden though! I was told by my turf lecturer not to do it if grass may be frozen, but he was an eccentric ex greens keeper!

  • And I thought I was the only one who walked backwards when strimming. Like you I found that walking backwards allowed me to make a continuous edge cut with less interference from body motion. In theory It shouldn't make any difference if you walk forward or backwards but for me it seems better.

line, and strim walking backwards to stop head clogging, also spreads debris more evenly, also a better cut as the right leg wont bump the strimmer (or is that just me)
