Strimmer cutting out when edging.

I have a 4 month old Stihl FS55. When I turn it on its side to trim edges the engine bogs down/cuts out after 20 seconds  and won't restart until I remove, clean and replace spark plug.

It's a bike handle model so when I turn it the air filter is parallel to the ground.

Yet on YouTube I see strimmers being used like this all the time.

What's going on?

  • it's under warranty so just take it back to the dealer. I had a problem with an fs94 where it would cut out if held vertically.............. Under warranty , the dealer just replaced the carb which almost certainly will be your problem
