I've used the "ultra" for about a year.... buy it in a 5L container. used the green "super" before. Can't honestly say I notice any difference in running or fumes though I actually bought it as I was under the impression it was better for the engine....less carbon build ups particularly with the 4 stroke engines and better lubrication. Since I don't use a huge amount of oil.......... 5L easily lasts the year.............. I'm not really that bothered about the extra cost (mind you, I've just looked up the price of the 5L Ultra and its gone up considerably)
Thanks Graham. Like you I don't use much so cost isn't necessarily the issue but I do want to see an improvement of some sort for the extra cost. It's a lot more though, I think the best I've seen is £68ish for 5L ultra, against £35ish for super. I have been happy with the super so might just stick with that.
I use this stuff https://www.westwayoils.co.uk/products/2-stroke-oil-synthetic-racin...
But usually buy in 1 litre bottles as that lasts me about a year each time and then i havent got 5 litres kicking about and in the way https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/111561344491?hash=item19f99305eb:g:ulUAA...
Funnily enough I have half a bottle of this left, I think I'll give it another go and finish it off before buying anything else.
I started using Ultra because it's supposed to contain an additive that keeps the fuel fresh for two years even inside a machine.
Use this Fuel Fit
I generally use it all year, but especially Autumn to Spring and definitely in Winter when machines have minimal use. Never bother to drain anything or run machines dry, and have never had a starting problem after a lay up.
