hi Dougie I have the RMA448 TC (previous model which is non variable speed). Always use AP300S batteries in it now as the run time with the lower capacity ones is too short. Get maybe half an hour in challenging conditions but only use in full power mode, not Eco, and only on the rougher type of lawns, or on wet grass, as prefer to use my Bosch cordless mowers for the better conditions. It's a good machine for the grassy parts on neglected areas I find as it's powerful but feels a bit unrefined and relatively noisy, but collects well, where other battery mowers would struggle
Hi billybop have a few ap300s was hopeing to get more than 30m run time do you think you would get much more with the eco setting or would it be worth while getting the ap500s i thought it would be pretty queit being battery mower surely it will be quieter than my petrol
hi Dougie, definitely more run time if cutting the nice lawns, or using Eco mode, quieter than a petrol mower of course, but loud for a battery machine, was using mine the other day in an enclosed garden and actually used small ear bud type defenders, as the sound was amplified/reflected by the fences, mine is a few years old and been given some hammer, but still runs fine. My go-to mower for where it has to be used "in anger" where an aggressive solution is required to quickly remedy a neglected area, obviously start on a higher setting then drop it down or it will struggle if being over ambitious with taking too much grass off. But for a cordless machine, surprisingly good in that respect
Geeat i have just purchased it am hopeing to use this machine full time and get rid of most of my petrol lawnmower keep one for the rough stuff and dirst cuts might need to buy some more battery to last the full day
Yes see how you get on Dougie, take both types of mowers out for a start, and see which suits certain jobs best, if you run out of battery power, can always use the petrol machine. Only maintenance on my RMA448 has been changing the blade occasionally, and must have had it nearly 5 years. Have other mowers so it's not been in constant use but been very glad to have it sometimes
Thats the olan and that will give me a idea of how many battery's i will need so the onky maintenance is a new blade? Sounds promising hopeing to get good run time out of this machine
yes for me, just an occasional new blade ... maybe i've been lucky but I've put it under unreasonable levels of stress at times and still not managed to break it ... am not a massive fan of the mono handle, but it does fold up nicely to save space in the van, although the rigid grass box is a bit bulky
Mine will just be used for fortnightly maintenance hopefully not to mich stress I thought the mono handle would be good easier to get to the grass box and empty
my mono handle has always seemed a bit wobbly for my liking, tried tightening bits up, it's not a big deal really, just a personal preference. My Bosch Pro 21" Battery mower, for example, has 2 handle supports and the box can be lifted out between them. The Stihl mower has a clam shell opening design box and a very useful indicator flap that drops down when full
Its it more wobble due to folding the handle down i jave the same sort of indicator on my petrol mower which is very useful
