Stihl hsa40 review

Thought others may find this of use - suffering from health issues so bought Stihl HSA 40 battery hedge trimmer came as a kit with two AS2 batteries and charger for £174 inc vat ,weighs  just over 2kg which was the main factor.

Being used to Echo semi long and Stihl long petrol machines was expecting to be disapointed with the performance but the HSA gave a run time of around 60 mins on one battery against Stihl's figure of 40 mins. Cutting performance on pyrancanthus, viburnum, piittosporum, wegelia  lonicera etc was good with no drop in blade speed yes it is not going to be up to woody stuff but is more than good enough for what most of us cut regularly and this combined with the lightness and resulting lack of fatigue makes it a good buy for those of us of advancing years!

Seems good value Peter having Two batteries .

Suffering from bouts of tennis elbow it would have being ideal at the time , The lightest I could find was the Gtech weighing around 2.14 kg with battery in which enabled me to carry on working .

It's very good on privet up to say 4mm woody stems .

I don't know if it's due to aging , now 70 or design of machines but the triggers on most battery kit gives me repetitive strain in the hands no matter how light .

Never had this with petrol machines but then the petrol machines probably gave me tennis elbow catch 22 , nature of the beast over time the job takes its toll on the body .
