Suffering from bouts of tennis elbow it would have being ideal at the time , The lightest I could find was the Gtech weighing around 2.14 kg with battery in which enabled me to carry on working .
It's very good on privet up to say 4mm woody stems .
I don't know if it's due to aging , now 70 or design of machines but the triggers on most battery kit gives me repetitive strain in the hands no matter how light .
Never had this with petrol machines but then the petrol machines probably gave me tennis elbow catch 22 , nature of the beast over time the job takes its toll on the body .
interesting comment about your hands, I have the same issue with hand pain and my cordless Stihl, yet can use a petrol one all day without trouble. I use gel pad gloves for both. I've just picked both up, and the trigger position and hand grip seem almost identical, so I'm completely baffled by this. Age 64 if that's relevant
No expert but I suspect the petrol machines having the engine at the back are more balanced creating less vibration down the shaft .
My left hand is very painfull and weakened which started after I started to use long reach battery kit which is where I hold the shaft with motor at the end but it could have being time for it to happen anyway .
My right hand is okay no trigger finger or pain whatsoever .
I always found the Stihl petrol kombi with hedge trimmer attachment fantastic to use , just feathered the trigger to find the sweet spot but I don't miss the fumes and noise .
I will be 71 in October so have to be realistic that using machinery daily for over 30 years my choice entirely even though I could have gone down the route of lighter duties I preferred to stay on the tools and this will have taken its toll for sure but has kept me fit at the same time and I really enjoy using battery kit although I do find the battery long reach hedge trimmers heavier in use even though on paper they may be lighter , slightly unbalanced perhaps but still efficient .
John. These machines with the motor at the blade end are awful not surprised has given you issues. Thats why I bought the Echo DHCAS 2600 which is just fantastic to use with petrol performance - read my review on it a few posts down from this post.
