Ha ha! Have you put lock pin in? (Sorry another blindingly obvious one!)
My only other idea is that if lock pin is in and actually stopping the shaft moving is to spray so wd40 or the like into the top. It really should undo if you really push/Turn it. Screwdriver/piece of steel through the eyelet and brace on centre post. Don’t know if that’s possible though. Good luck mate
I tried WD40, and a screwdriver. Maybe I'll just settle for swapping spools :(
Maybe this is what happens when you have too much line out and too much torque.
On the bright side my 2 year old pickup is waiting for a low loader to collect it as it won’t recognise either of the keys and has therefore shut itself down into “secure” mode! So a stuck strimmer head would suit me fine today thanks!!!!!
Oh, that sucks. Hope it's not an expensive fix.
Most likely horribly expensive but under warranty so don’t care either way! It’s the hassle that p***** me off!
which bump head is it out of interest?
It's a Autocut 25-2. It was new when it went on the other week, and the old one came off easily.
Try clamping gearbox in a vice (carefully!) so you can concentrate on undoing it instead of trying to hold it still and twisting at the same time
I've decided to give up on it for now. I might have a try again next week sometime, but more likely I'll forget about it until it runs out again.
I'd guess your hands are slipping on the head when you're trying to turn it ............. use a strap wrench............. that should grip it firmly and hopefully do the trick. Incidentally, not sure why you want to remove the head on the 25-2.......... just take the cover off and put the spare spool in.... less than a minute. I always keep a few loaded spools in the van. A useful tip I find is to load the spool with one line a few inches longer than the other........... when the shorter line runs out, I find I can usually finish the job (assuming its a smallish garden) on the remiaing line and then reload once I'm back at the van.
