stihl backpack blowers

looking to buy a backpack blower, i have a handheld bg85 at the moment. which to pick br500,br550,br600? will not be used to heavily, but want to make sure it's got enough grunt. so would a br500 not be powerful enough? or should i just get a br600.

Given the small relative price difference go for the BR600. Arming snapping power when needed.

You allways end up using the 'spare' capacity some where, some how...

I have the BR500 as it is a "quiet" model. Although not as powerful as the BR600 it is much quicker than the handheld BG85/6's.

It is also very economical on fuel, using half as much as my BR420 which has a very similar spec to the BF500.

  • The BR600 comes in handy for clearing stones that have gone astray from gravelled areas, also for clearing away soil and muck from gulleys with the aid of a hoe as you walk along.

I was thinking of one of those Gadget Show contests:

    Landscaper Racing - requirements:

1 Landscaper (lightweight) on suitable skateboard

    1 Blower of choice

    1 Suitable Course

Best of three to see the best blower !

    Just an idea.....;-)
  • The BR600 is significantly more powerful for very little extra cost...... though I haven't got one, I'd definitely go for the 600 if I did.
  • thanks all for you input, decision made a br600 it is then. just wanted to see what you thought on the 500/550 first. cheers
  • like all stihl models . only 7% more to go up 2 models ! no brainer . really the pricing is crazy.
