12 yrs here, after a lot of hedge trimming or raking I develop arthritis in either hand while sitting watching TV, hands just curl and lock up. Don't suffer from white finger though. Maybe its just my age ha ha (60)
Oh dear! Havent got to that stage just yet Andrew. But I have it all to look forward to, no doubt I will pay one day for all those days in the rain.. lol
I get severe pain in my right hand after a long days planting & have to restrict my hours per day! I think it is caused by the constant force of the trowel into my palm. Hope you find a solution.
You should go see the doctor if it keeps on. Aches and pains you expect with this work, but if they persist too long....... Maybe it's nothing, but maybe it's something you can fix, and that you'd regret if you didn't.
Carpal tunnel syndrome perhaps? I had something called something like Tendosynivitis a while ago too, which sounds similar, it's sort of the same but different to Tendonitis - i.e. the membrane around the tendon swells up, restricting movement, power and causing pain. Get to the doctor!
