Yes, I use Spons. It is very useful for cross referencing. Older copies are fine, tailor the rates to suit your own business/needs.

Yes, I do for all major quotes or for unfamiliar works.
Unless you are performing large/civils works, then its smaller brother:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Estimating-Groundworks-Landscaping-Gardenin...
is more than adequate. You still need to know your own financials to make these books work.
It is NOT the case that you can open up a Spons book and hey presto, their's my price:-)
Treat yourself - maybe the best £24 you spend (...and tax deductible ;-) ?
Thanks guys,
Only £24! must have been looking at the wrong book seen the green one for £100+
Should come in useful, will put it on my xmas present list.
The "£100+" ones are the FULL Green Spons landscaping versions (they cover external, commercial, civil, roads, etc) and cost >£125.
As mentioned above, the smaller Spons books are all titled : 'Small ........Works' and more typically reflect the level and type of work small-medium landscape businesses provide.
Thanks Gary, You just saved me £100.
As a small note to this, the guy who produces this book, lives a few doors down from me. Always tempted to go and ask for a discounted copy. :)
Ben, Sam H is also a member of LJN and often looks in and contributes :-)

I've never even heard of this book.. May be worth buying once i delve into the commercial market.
Relevant to residential work. Go check out the 'virtual' copy you can view on Amazon. Great book to have by your side. It's not the be all and end all, but it helps impose some structure in your quotes.
n.b. even cheaper as a Kindle book ;-)
