Speeding up walking speed hayters

Hi all, I know there will be many responses here stating use Honda or estisa ('scuse the spelling) but that's not an option right now.So my question....... My hayter pro has the walking speed of a funeral march and is driving me nuts..... I have adjusted cable length increased rev speed on the engine but it is still too damn slow. Does anyone have a solution (other than buying a new mower) to increase the roller speed? I really need at least another two MPH's out of it. Ideas, solutions or conversion ideas are all welcome. Thanks

  • It certainly shouldn't be that slow.............  I'd suggest checking that the engine is reaching the maximum permissible revs..... B&S engines are about 3300 I seem to remember. I bought a meter from Ebay like this one.... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Digital-Laser-Photo-Tachometer-Non-Contac... which enables you to set it up ok.

I also have a hayter 48 domestic with the adjustable walking speed and it is much much quicker with the same throttle speed. Odd but keen to find solution!

I had one of these on a 2015 , green fuel cap and pull cord model, I was led to believe by Hayter that it was not possible to speed up the walking speed on the newer Pro's as it is to do the old Hayters, all to do with EU restrictions on engine noise, so it wasn't as easy as just upping the revs to up the speed unfortunately, someone may know a way to speed up by changing pulleys etc, but it will get complicated.
