A new innovation for establishing winter lawns and sports pitches has arrived.  New AMVISTA Winter grass seed is a ryegrass seed mix bred specifically to germinate at much lower temperatures than normal seed; and is the only cultivar of its type in the UK.

Normally grass seed requires 10-15 degrees centigrade to germinate with some sports blends going as low as 8-12 degrees.  This is where Amvista Winter Grass seed really breaks those rules by being able to germinate in soil temperatures as low as 5 degrees. 

This ability to germinate at such low temperatures massively improves the window of opportunity to repair lawns and sports turf during colder months where untreated wear and tear can lead to greater problems and an increased need for remedial treatment in the spring.  Taking action in the winter months not only gives the benefits of reducing repair time and costs in the spring, but can also minimise the reliance on the need for weed control and herbicides in the growing season, as established grass is more likely to out compete the weeds.

AMVISTA Winter grass seed is made up of 100% dwarf perennial ryegrass making it a particularly hard wearing, fast establishing and drought tolerant seed. High endophyte levels means it can develop a strong root system quickly, is also less palatable to birds and creates a sturdy grass leaf that is more able to withstand damage and fungal disease.
