Hi all.
We have a plan to transform our front garden into a driveway. Perhaps it would be more accurate to say transform the garden into somewhere to park our two cars. We have decided to install grass reinforcement grids, rather than a non permeable system.
I will probably as more on the prep work required for this job later. If someone wants to detail the prep work now, that would be much appreciated.
But for now i'm thinking about the transition from the tarmac drive onto our new grass grid system.
We are occasionally the victims of a beck/culvert blockage which can result in a torrent of water down the driveway. About 7 years ago, our house nearly flooded. Fortunately, I was able to divert the water away from the house using some sheets of OSB board that I had in the garage. Back in 2007, before we moved into the property, the amount of water was so great, that it actually ripped up the drive and also flooded our neighbours kitchen. I personally, keep a careful eye on the culvert opening now and ensure that any washdown materials are removed, limiting the chance of blockage and overfilling. But it has caught us out one or twice. So with all these things in mind, I want to retain a raised edge up the edge of the existing driveway. Not because its going to effect our house, but because in the event of any future floods, the flood waters will be mostly contained within the drive and not run off onto the garden area and possibly causing issues to those properties below us.
Ive just written all this and noticed that there doesn't appear to be anyway of uploading photos. 🤨.
Ive found a link to a photo of what im thinking of.

I've had our local builder merchant to investigate and cost up these up, but as you can imagine they're extremely expensive and to be honest probablyway over the top for what we need. So, Im just wondering what else we could do to create the same effect. Ive seen the below kerbs and wondered if they could be turned through 90 degrees, so that they lay on the long side instead. If doing so, I guess that it would require a substantial concrete thickness below it.

I want the new grass grids area to be above the level of the drive so that any rain water or flood water is kept within the confines of the drive.
Sorry, that ended up being very long.
Any suggestions?
