self seeding annuals

I have a customer who is determined to have borders and beds filled with self seeding annuals . Owing to the exposed postion of the garden in relation to neighbours gardens i can see potential problems arising they will not go unnoticed .

No problem carrying out my customers wishes but i heard somewhere that the sowing of red poppy seed is illegal but unsure if i heard right and misunderstood the comment .

Does anyone know for sure ?

Thanks

  • no its not illegal you can buy the seeds from some of the big supplyers if it was illegal they would not sell them

Agree , must admit i can only find some vague reference to gathering opium poppy seeds .

Customer is surrounded by curtain twitchers , garden purists who have already given her a hard time over foxgloves making the place look untidy , just trying to cover every angle in case a seed should have the bottle to stray onto their manicured patch .
