School Playing Field Repair

Hi all,

I've been asked to quote for a 'weed and feed' treatment of a school playing field. The problem I've got is that the field is down the road from the school and has no water supply. They've said that they don't want it to look like Wembley but they'd like it to have more grass, less weeds and look healthier So...

I'm assuming i will need a liquid lawn weed killer/fertiliser. Im planning on doing it in the next few weeks as there is minimal use at the moment. The field is about the size of two hockey pitches. The grass is patchy at the moment and mainly weeds so I'm thinking once the treatment has been put down I will aerate and re-seed while its still quite damp.

So here's my questions - What products do you trust/use for this kind of application?  And am I going about this the right way?

Thanks

Neil

Firstly it is to early to do anything like spraying for weeds and overseeding , you are looking at mid April before you can start doing any like this,  you can use a granular weed and feed or liquid weedkiller , you could mix the the weedkiller in some 25 litre empty drums  then take it to the site ready for spraying.

1,  weedkiller,  2,  verti drain behind tractor   3, disc seeder behind tractor in 3 directions   4, than when the seed comes through spring and summer fertiliser.

If you hollow tine the area you can break up the cores doing scarification, than overseed

  • Thanks for the advice Rich.
