Large machinery would be a Amazone Profihopper, will scarify and collect. Needs around 6ft access. Hire option.
Alternative if thatch not too thick, Westwood/Countax with rear scarify attachment, each pass swap out and use brush sweeper collector. Arisings must be fairly dry for this to work. About 4ft access.
Pedestrian, no collection solution really viable. We use Eliets and Bannermans. Camons are good also. If its really thick thatch, an Efco will bully it for a couple passes, then use Eliet or Bannerman as needed.
As above, the Amazone is a good machine, we have a compact tractor mounted one. Takes no prisoners on unlevel or bumpy ground though. We don't hire the machine out but happy to discuss assisting with the job if you are in our area.
We use a Camon and are very happy with it, but I agree useless for collecting grass. Either rake/ blow, or colect with a mower.
Hi Adam , Unfortunatly you are miles from us. We are on the coast, as I might of taking you up on the assiting! Do you work to specific costing when scaryfying per sqm?
Im mainly asking as the job we are quoting for its particulry large. And very hard to judge. Im just trying to find some kind of comparison.
Thanks for your time
Specific costings - yes and no - every job is slightly different - depends on access - if waste is to be left or taken away - how much pedestrian machine work needs to be done round edges/trees/bushes etc - also wheter it is just scarifying or a prior mosskill, scarify, aerate, fertilise and overseed (all of which we have the kit to do). At half an acre, its not a enormous area for larger kit - we work on both commercial mowing and horse paddocks as well as lawns.
Thank you for your recommnedation, its been a help!
