Scarifier blades

I've an old Sisis scarifier which has the spring tines on it rather than the blades...... always works fine though hard work as its not self propelled! Whats the advantage of one type over the other...... most scarifiers seem to use the blades though I'd have thought once they get rounded off a bit, which seems to happen pretty quickly, the wire spring tines would do a better job.

  • I think most people know what does what!!....... well I hope they do! ........ from my observations, a lot of people use the blades to get the moss/dead grass out..... mind you..... its a bit of an effort and expense changing them over which I suppose a lot of people can't face.

tines are for moss and thatch removal, blades are for root base and light penetration for top dressing, solid and hollow core tining is for when the ground is heavily compacted or drainage is a big issue

any one can be an expert in mowing but to know what equipment is for what a lot of people dont know
