Unless you have something that is definitely diseased why would you bother? It's not like they will stay clean anyway!<br/>
Or do you have something specific in mind when you ask?

well out this way box blight has gone mad - as well as other things cropping up

from what ive read theres a view that tools dont carry problems as much as clothes etc and that in fact in studies its been sometimes impossible to prove the transference of various pathogen from plant to plant via tools

i also wondered whether hedge cutters etc might sterlize themselves on the blades due to friction temperature of moving parts?

either way wondered if others have solutions or just dont bother -- i generally dont think a lot of people sterilize their equipment much

  • I have heard of guys running their chainsaws through a bucket of diluted jeyes fluid to sterilize the chains after working on diseased trees. I guess the same could be done.

  • Unless there is an obvious problem i throw them in the back of the van

I use alcohol wipes on my shears when cutting box in case there is any undetected blight.
