curious as to why you want to go for salt water.

we supply and fit pools, and salt water are probably the hardest to maintain and most expensive. if you want to get a way from chlorine there is an alternative that requires about 10 minutes a week maintenence, other than the usual vaccuming, backwashing etc

it works on using copper and oxygen to kill of the bacteria in the water..... the water can even be drank it is that good....

any info you require i would be happy to help

  • My clients at Sedgwick Park installed a swimming pool with a salt water chlorinator - is that what you mean?  They put the equivalent of dishwasher salt in the water, and a machine in the plant house converts the salt into Chlorine through electrolysis.   It works really efficiently, and it does not sting the eyes in the same way as adding chlorine direct.  It needs very little maintenance, as far as I am aware,  just a back wash once a week.  They add loads of bags of salt at the beginning of the season and that seems to last until the autumn.
  • hi

saltwater pools are in general expensive to set up due to the equipment needed.

they actually work by the salt cell producing chlorine. if this is not maintained properly it will not last long.

ph and chlorine levels still need to be tested to ensure equipment is working correctly.

as with chlorine, salt is very corrosive. it can damage liners, pool lighting, pumps etc.

the pool filter must be ran for longer as the chlorine producing process happens a lot slower than in chlorine  pools.

i was referring to a completely chlorine free system

  • I kind of know these people through friends, I have seen one pool they built and it was very impressive and the client, someone I know quite well, said their professionalism was excellent so I guess thats as good a reference as you can get, might be worth a try.

  • Many thanks Martin, I'll have to work on my client! I'd prefer to go down the natural swimming pond route

  • Hi Andy,

That sounds really interesting, I've never heard of this system and would like to find out more about it.  Can you send me some info / do you have a website?

    Many thanks

  • Thanks Matt, yes I have come across this company but not had any direct contact so it's good to get feedback. I think they specialise in natural swimming pools.

the system is called E-CLEAR. it consists of a control box, an automated injection pump and a U shaped pipe with a copper and titanium plate in it.

if you would like me to add pictures i can.

  • Forgot to add also that my clients used Fowlers in Cowfold www.fowlergroup.co.uk  to install their swimming pool, and got a very good service.
