Roundup

Hello,A lady has approached me regarding her small 24m2 front lawn. She has spot weeded with roundup and the grass around the weeds is yellowing. She thinks she's killed it all! I don't use weedkiller in my work as I'm not licensed so I'm not sure if this is normal or not. I advised her to monitor it for a couple of weeks to see what happens. She had received a quote from someone to returf at a cost of £700! What do you think? Thanks

  • A little knowledge is a dangerous thing!! Can't imagine with an iota of common sense using a non selective instead of a selective on a lawn!

Well moving on undoubtedly there will be grass kill surrounding the treated weeds, depending on the area affected, I would just reseed the damaged area bit of multi purpose compost, grass seed and keep moist lot less than £700

      agreed with Peter

Yep, no residual effect so as Peter said a few spot repairs should see it right but you may notice them for a while but they will blend in eventually.

  • If there aren’t too many dead patches on the lawn, then it might be feasible to chop out these damaged squares [if small enough] and replace with new turf taken from around the edge of the lawn. Assuming that there are borders and the lawn isn’t flush up to hard standing. This would widen a border a little of course. Turf squares could be taken from the rear lawn if this is an issue. The replacement turf sections would need to be quite thick/deep in order to avoid drying out.
