Rod Stewart wanted to become a landscaper

Did anyone see the fascinating documentary about Rod Stewart's music career last night?

He was diagnosed with throat cancer in 2000 and he feared he'd never sign again.
Doctors had to cut through his throat muscles to remove a cancerous growth from his thyroid gland.

I had to chuckle when interviewer Alan Yentob asked him about his fears at the time. Stewart replied that he honestly feared he'd never sing again.

Then he said, but I had it all worked out. If I wasn't going to sing I'd become a landscape gardener instead:)
