Ride on mower charge

I usually charge roughly £1 per minute for grass cutting with a minimum of £20 for any job size. And around £50 per hour with my ride on stiga mulcher. Although I'm aware this makes no sense whatsoever in regard to cost of machine. What do you charge?

  • If I'm pricing a job by the hour then I work on a £90 an hour fee for my zero turn with operator. It cuts 1 acre is about 35min.

Some of my regular commercial cuts are fixed price as I knew there was plenty of margin in the particular sites. One of the cuts is £240 a cut and infet it done in 1 hour 45min. Anything that I feel is hard to estimate I fall back on my hourly rate. That also safe guards against adverse weather and cuts taking longer.

  • We will not use a ride on even for small areas at less than £55 plus vat, these are non contract jobs and they get upto 45 minutes for that. The contract work where we are on a fixed price come in at around £120 hour plus vat for the mowing only.
