Review system for bad customers?

Hi all

I have been running my garden maintenance business for 30 years now and am I the only who thinks it is getting harder and harder satisfing our clients?  They appear to hold so much power over us with google reviews etc and I feel it is now time there should be a reviews system for clients too where we can add their names and town to a list. (similiar to airbnb who mark their customers)  There are times when whatever we do it is not enough for some customers and when you chase them for payments etc they just threaten a bad review on google etc.  This is not right in my opinion as our reputations can go down hil so far due to unwarranted bad reviews which you have no way to remove.  Pros and cons for a client "naughty" list?

  • hi, rightly or wrongly the naughty list for bad clients probably a non starter, sadly. Never used Air b n b myself but am sure there's some clause in the user agreement that hosts and guests permit reviews of each other, and guests won't be identifiable online by actual name and address. Also Air b and b will have a dispute process in place for reviews from either party to be altered or removed

    • I knew it probably wouldn't work but the power has certainly shifted to the customer and its not conjusive to a good working relationship.  I'll keep thinking !!

      • The power was always with the customer!

Ah the rise of the percentage population of narcissistic sociopaths. I blame Social media and London wankers that do rediculously over paid non jobs.

I've seem to have come across a glut of these type over the past three years. All of which I've walked away from.

Can you not reply to there review? Probably would only did a bigger hole. Part the reason I have a minimal inter-web presence and rely on mostly word of mouth.

    • Absolutely spot on Honey.  You can spot them a mile off (probably between mid twenties to mid forties as well as coming from London)  Arrogant and always wants to "look down" at tradesman (they want us to "doff" our caps and be grateful for their little bit of business)  Glad im 60 and coming towards the end tbh

I like doffing my cap to customers with a good sense of humour, too me it's like mocking them, while I'm eying up the next opportunity to make more money out of them.

Agreed David... forget Checkatrade,,,, more like CHeck a Customer!

  • This proposed internet register of wrong uns would take some setting up and maintaining, maybe it could be hosted abroad somewhere to bypass privacy laws which protect such offenders, by inputting address/postcode of the potential client, and paying a few quid like when checking if a car for sale is legit, it flags up if the occupant is a known aggressive grannie or banker with superiority issues
