  • That sounds about the way I would do it.

What are you building the retaining wall from?
  • PRO

Do you have a photo of the site Dan?

  • What is the scale of the job?

Is it 10m or 100m of wall?

We built a weir earlier this year and did it when the water flow was at its minimum and also opened a sluice gate a little further down river to drop it to the barest minimum.

If its not to long a section, and not to wide, could you dam it and pump the water past your section.

Have words with the Environment Agency as round are way they are always testing flow and dipping it, as they may wonder what is going on if you divert the flow and mess up there figures.

  • May sound a bit obvious, but have you carried out this  type of work before? Is the job down to you, or are you working for a builder or architect/designer.

My first stop would be the Environment Agency as Peter says above.  There can be far reaching problems when dealing with/aletering  watercourses.

Is the wall reinforced concrete, brick or gabbions?
