Resin bonded/bound drive

I need to give an estimate for re junvenating a front garden which mainly consists of a concrete drive area. I'm thinking of using a bonded or bounded (not sure of the correct term/type) gravel surface on top of the concrete. The concrete has a couple of small cracks in it but has not sunk therefore it looks in good condition. The area is about 75m2.There is also an adjoining area of about 20m2 that is not concreted which I will suggest is finished with the same surface. So the questions are:Do I use bounded or bound ( what's the difference)? With the adjoining area, would I need to lay a concrete base first? Can anyone give me an estimated cost per m2?Is there a contractor in the south Cambs north Essex/Herts area I can sub this to?Pm me regarding the costs if needed.ThanksSimon

  • someone on here does this but cant remember who.  i do a little of the resin bonded which is basicly liked to putting a coating of resin over the concrete and scattering clean, dried gravells over the top.  once set it has to be swept up what has not stuck.  resin bound is different in that the resin and gravell are mixed together in a mixer and trowelled down to much thicker depths, usually 16/25mm. you can get thicker but the price goes up more.

bonded is around £23/35 sq metre depending on a few things and bound is much more depending on how thick you need.

if you lay new concrete you will have to wait till its fully cured before you can coat it.      i think!!  you can put a gravell base in and use resin bound over the top but it would need to be thick.  im no expert on this but its about right.

    hope it helps a bit.

  • Thanks for the info Brian. It sounds easy but i'm sure it's not. Can you recommend any suppliers of the components?
  • resinbonded.co.uk

    roy hatfield.com

    picsuk.com.

there are a number of companys doing it now. as long as the base is sound and clean you wont have much trouble and its prety straight forward.

  • thats the ones on here,  i knew someone did it.  well in Gaynor.
